Our newly decorated entrance hallway needs a welcoming splash of colour over the doorway into the Forum. If you are 14yrs or under you could enter our competition.
Wannabe Leonardo da Vincis and Michelangelos are being urged to get creative and design a welcome sign for a Redditch church.
Children aged five to 14 are invited to enter a competition to create the sign to sit over one of the entrance doors to St Stephen’s Church.
Vicar the Rev Paul Lawlor said: “Entrants are being asked to create a piece of artwork – sized A4 or A3 landscape – which displays a sense of welcome, using the words ‘love, faith, peace, hope and compassion’, which are the biblical fruits of the Holy Spirit, as an inspiration, and incorporating the words ‘welcome to St Stephen’s Church’.
“As well as having their artwork made into a permanent welcome sign for all to see, the lucky winning student will also receive a trophy and a Wi-fi tablet and there will also be runner up prizes of an Amazon Kindle, a voucher to ‘name a star’ from The Star Name Registry and other prizes still to be announced.”
Entries should be submitted to ‘This is Your Church Art Competition’ St Stephen’s Church, Church Green, Redditch B97 4DY by January 31.
Judging will take place, followed by an exhibition of the shortlisted entries, and the winner will be announced in March.
Rev Lawlor said: “The winning artwork will enhance an important entrance to the church, helping to create the welcoming atmosphere we are working to develop.”
